South London LED Garden Lighting
50w NVC Orlando LED Floodlights
During January, we landed several garden lighting jobs around south London. It’s to be expected I suppose since the middle of winter is largely the ‘closed season’ for gardeners. So they wait until it’s the coldest possible time and then call us in to sort out their lighting! Still, we are well used to working outside and in the cold so it’s all in a day’s work. A client in Dulwich needed passive infrared detectors fitting for their garden floodlights, 50w NVC Orlando LED models. These are stylish and powerful units that are used professionally in car parks. The construction is die-cast aluminium with a toughened glass cover that diffuses the light evenly over a wide area. The PIR detectors we recommended and then fitted were GJD ltd’s Opal detectors. They are IP55 rated, with a 10 to 35 metre detection range and fully adjustable angle of detection. This is a particularly good detector to use for security lighting because when it is positioned to individual requirements it is protected with an opaque lens cover which hides areas of coverage.
LEDs for Earlsfield
Another of our garden clients, based in Earlsfield in Wandsworth, were having trouble with their extension lighting. The system was an old MR16 low voltage halogen lighting system and the units were blowing all of the time, both annoying and expensive. They were ready for a change as they didn’t like the heat from the halogen lighting either so after a chat, we fitted a new 10w LED COB (Chip on Bard) 650lm system. One criticism of LED lights around the home is that they are not dimmable and can be overly bright, this was a concern for this particular householder. They already know about the long service life of LED lighting for the home and garden and were really pleased to hear that dimmable LEDs are available. So that is what we fitted. Another happy client of South London Electricians.
Quality Collingwood LED lighting in Elephant and Castle
The third garden lighting LED job was in Elephant and Castle. The client required and LED based outdoor lighting system, we used the excellent Collingwood Lighting GL019 lights. It is perfect for decking areas, entrance halls and pathways. Constructed to IP68 from marine grade stainless steel, these LED garden lighting units will give many years of maintenance free operation.
