Do landlords need Electrical Certificates?
The answer used to be no, unless you had an HMO, but since July 2020, it is yes, they are required by law for all private rental properties. The government acknowledged that many landlords already voluntarily provided their tenants with an EICR but stated they wanted to make sure that all landlords followed this good practice.
